Sinodun Players’ autumn production is The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov to be performed at the Corn Exchange, Wallingford from October 14th to 17th at 7.45pm. Director Ric Harley has chosen to use Tom Stoppard’s 2009 translation of this classic drama set amid the turmoil of social change in early 20th century Russia. The story revolves around a cash-strapped aristocratic family on the brink of losing their ancestral estate and its famous cherry orchard. But in this new dawn, they must acknowledge their diminishing prestige and the rise of the working classes.
