‘On Sunday 30th October we are raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK. This will be our second apple juice day following the success last year when we raised £141.20 with great support from everyone who came. Come and enjoy turning your apples into fresh juice and also enjoy a tea, coffee or maybe apple juice with some extra special home made cakes. Bring your apples and plenty of clean bottles to store your juice. The plastic screw top bottle are best. Apples should be washed well in water and storks should be removed. You will be preparing the apples by removing the bruised or damaged parts and the rest is pulped in a home made machine which was once a small garden wood chipper. After that they are placed in a home made press to extract the juice straight into your bottles. The juice can be kept longer if we add a preservative which we hope to have available but last year most was drunk within the week and no preservative was used. The choice will be yours as this is added into the bottles as they are filled. Children are very welcome but as we are using knives, water containers and machines please ensure you can ensure total supervision at all times. Donations are requested as we do not have a set charge.
To be held at 91 Ilges Lane. Please try to walk rather than drive if attending as parking is limited. Start time 10-00 and finishing about 14-00 though this time may be extended if we get lots of interest and apples to press.’
