This new voluntary enterprise, supported by Cholsey Parish Council, has seen two successful sessions, both held at The Pavilion, where skilled fixers offer help and advice on returning damaged items to regular use. The latest Repair Café, in May, was able to repair 85% of all the diverse articles brought along by villagers: chisels were sharpened, toys restored to life, kitchen mixers given a new lease on life, bicycles put back on the road and clothing made smart again. There were facilities for gluing, screwing, soldering and even restoring picture frames and musical instruments.
The next Cholsey Repair Café will take place on Saturday 28th July, again at the Pavilion, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In return for the cost of any parts and a voluntary donation, perhaps your damaged items can be restored to health and rescued from the dustbin. A further session is expected to take place on Saturday 8th September.
